More Men's Basketball recruiting news...
Aside from the Terps suddenly reappearing in the Lance Stephenson sweepstakes, it now appears that the Terps are interested in DeShawn Painter as well. According to Terpscenter.com, the Terps are showing interest in the top 100 player. Painter, the #19 power forward according to ESPN, #21 by scouts.com, and #18 center by Rivals, is likely to take a visit to College Park soon. The fact that he's from VA appears to be factoring into his decision. Terps assistant coach Chuck Driesell has been in contact with DeShawn, so it will be interesting to see what happens. I'm not sure if they're trying to go after Painter as a back-up if they don't land Stephenson (which seems to indicate that at least one person will be transferring) or if two people might be leaving and they're trying to fill both of those spots.
I think Painter could be a good get for the Terps, especially since they say this kid, a 4 start PF, hasn't reached his potential, which is a Gary type player. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
