I figured we should start this one early, due to the importance of the game.
The key matchup is clearly Kyle Singler vs. Landon Milbourne. Both are displaced small forwards (Singler might be a SG at heart, even). Both had toughness issues. Both have really caught fire recently. I understand Singler's talented, but if Millbourne plays up to his ability, Maryland will stay in the game. There's a problem with Singler I've never really thought of - foul trouble. It doesn't sound like a huge deal, but if he already has a tendency to get a lot of fouls, I'd make sure to drive on him a lot.
Another big matchup is Gerald Henderson vs. Greivis Vasquez. Vasquez went out and gave the Dukies some ammo, so he's got to back himself up. Make no mistake about it, Henderson is a great player (Gary's said he should be one of the POY contenders) so he's certainly capable of torching GV. Like I said earlier, another poor performance and Maryland will be left behind.
Prediction time: Maryland keeps it close, maybe even winning at half, but in the end they lose by double-digits. I think this is the first time this season I've actually predicted a loss. Duke 78, Maryland 64.
