Miscellaneous Maryland-Related Minutia

Diggin' the alliteration? Here's a few stories that I don't think were worthy of their own post, but still above FanShot territory.

Bass To Memphis - It's a shame Tyler Bass, the incoming GA QB, was asked to grayshirt. There were several more-deserving candidates, and I guess Bass thought the same thing. He ended up leaving and he's now enrolled at Memphis. The only real saving grace here, just like Dante Taylor, is that it's not an ACC school.

Rising Junior Gets Offers - This one doesn't make sense to me. JR Ferguson, a DL at St. Johns, is racking up offers, including one from good ole UMD. He's also been offered by Illinois and Oklahoma, with more coming. If he's so great, why is he playing in MIAA C, a traditionally weak conference? If the hype is real, expect him to transfer soon.

Rising 6-8 Arizona Forward Close to Commit? - Colin Borchert, a 6-8 PF from Glendale, is apparently close to committing. I've never heard of him, and I think he's a little out of our way, but I guess it's a good thing. He's three stars on both Scout and Rivals, and wants to commit soon. Scout doesn't have Maryland listed as a school he's interested in. Neither does Rivals. But Hoopmasters, a smaller recruiting site, had had this to report:

6'8 Sr. Colin Borchert from Glendale (Kellis) AZ Listed UCLA, Nevada, Cal and mentioned he might pledge to Maryland sooner than later.

We should be glad, I guess, but I have a nagging feeling that we should've been going harder after the plethora of talent back at home.
