Ah, isn't it sweet when you have a bye week and take over sole possession of 1st place in your division? Maryland needs to realize the importance of winning on Thursday against Va. Tech so they can maintain their lead in the division. Maryland is definitely in the drivers seat now for the ACC Atlantic Division. Win, and we're in.

Additional notes from the ACC today -

BC's loss today really hurt their chances of making the trip to Tampa. With 3 losses, they're going to have to win out and likely need some help to win the Atlantic Division.

Wake is still alive (unreal) after coming super close to losing to Duke at home. Although they only have 2 conference losses, Wake's offense is struggling and Maryland owns the head-to-head tiebreaker against them.

Clemson won today but with 3 conference losses, including one to MD, the Tigers won't be bringing the circus to Tampa this season.

FSU's loss is great for the Terps, but they still need to take care of business against the Seminoles. Assuming MD beats Tech on Thursday (which isn't a given in any way, shape or form), if MD beat FSU, they'd likely all but lock up the Atlantic Division (but there is a game between UMD and UNC that the Terps would also need to win.

Basically, if the Terps 2nd conference loss came against FSU, that would be bad because they would both have two, but FSU would own the head-to-head tie breaker. If UMD loses a game before the FSU game, they'd pretty much have to win that game in order to stay in contention for the ACC Atlantic division title (assuming FSU doesn't lose another game).

We'll know more around 11:30 P.M. this Thursday. Hopefully the Terps can pull this one out!

Also, expect the Terps to rise a spot or two in the polls when they come out tomorrow (up to 24 or 23) due to some team above them who lost on Saturday.
