I expect Nick Faust to end up at Maryland. Not sure about Maurice Harkless.

Northstar Basketball on Twitter MD blogger Pete Volk asked Northstar Basketball and a few others of their opinions on Nick Faust and Maurice Harkless. Harkless will be a battle, but at least some others share our positive feelings. And hey, it's a slow news day, okay?

Always. Always. Every time we are in the hotel room, anytime we are talking, I am always telling him he’s got to be a Terp. I want to play with him because he is a good player and I respect him. He is a very good player, so it’s good to have him on my team. And he tells me he’s thinking about it.

Terrell Stoglin, talking about San Diego big man, AAU teammate, and Terp target James Johnson.

Maryland is getting a good one in Stoglin. The Santa Rita High School (Tucson, Ariz.) guard kept Pump-N-Run in the game against Canada Grassroots Elite when it looked like things could get ugly. Stoglin drilled four big 3-pointers, teamed up for the play of the day on an alley-oop to teammate Erik Swoope and never let the defensive pressure of the Canadians take him out of his game.

Four three pointers and an alley-oop? Leading his team back against Myck Kabongo and Grassroots Elite? Sounds like Stog could see a rankings bump. -via Maxpreps

Tobias Harris quickly rattled off Tennessee, Connecticut and Syracuse when asked about his school list. He then mentioned Memphis and Kentucky as schools that have just started recruiting him. Kentucky has yet to offer. Notre Dame, Georgia Tech and West Virginia are still on his list as well.

In case you didn't notice, no Maryland on his list. I am close to officially giving up on Harris. It was fun while it lasted, though. -via Rivals

The staff was really, really, really, really good. I really enjoyed myself there—coach Driesel, coach Williams and coach Booth did a really good job. ... They really are at the top of my list, they’re really number one really. I’ll make my list in the middle of July but Maryland is in good position now.

[Arizona coach Sean] Miller said the chances of adding a fourth recruit, either highly-touted guard Lance Stephenson or disgruntled center Jerrid Famous, are slim. "It's about building a program that can return to dominance and do all the things we've watched Arizona do for not five years, but 25 years," he said. "My philosophy in doing that is thinking longer and bigger than just one season."

Maryland head coach Gary Williams had an in-home visit last Friday with Lance Stephenson and his family, according to two sources close to the situation. One of the sources said Stephenson told Williams that he will decide by the end of the week.

Even more confirmation that Gary really did make the trip down there. I don't know, I'm starting to regain some confidence on that end. -via ZagsBlog

Kansas coach Bill Self is expected to drop in on Lincoln High School star Lance Stephenson at his home in Coney Island on Friday, and the 6-6 guard is planning to make an official visit to St. John's at some point over the weekend, a source told the Daily News. Stephenson is then expected to finally decide between Kansas and St. John's in an official commitment announcement - possibly at his high school - early next week. The Johnnies say Stephenson's grades are not an issue and that he is academically eligible. Sources continue to rule out Maryland and the option to play in Europe.

What a rollercoaster ride. Early next week can't come soon enough. I can't understand him going to St. John's if they want to get out of NYC so bad, but what do I know? Also, it appears maybe Henry's decision wasn't the deciding factor, not if Self is going out there. He wouldn't waste his time on a recruit he had in his pocket. -via NY Daily News

Stoglin scored 35 points in a 62-60 loss to Compton (Calif.) High. The 35 points look nice on their own, but what makes them so impressive is that most of them came while being guarded by Demar Derozan, a USC signee. Derozan, a 6-foot-6-inch forward, is considered to be one of the five or 10 best players in America by every analyst who matters.

Huh. That's a good sign. Stoglin was a sophomore and Derozan was a senior, to boot. -via Arizona Daily Star

University of Memphis men’s basketball coach John Calipari will accept the head coaching job at the University of Kentucky, according to Memphis television report. Calipari officially began discussions for the open coaching job at the University of Kentucky Monday in what proved to be a full day of fast-paced speculation. UK fired coach Billy Gillispie last week after just two seasons with the Wildcats. Kentucky is reportedly offering Calipari $35 million for an eight-year contract, according to ESPN.com. That package would make him the sport's highest paid coach. He currently earns $2.5 million a year in Memphis.

Now we wait on Xavier Henry's decision. Once that comes in as Kansas, I'd expect Lance's Maryland announcement to be close behind. - via BizJournal
