When asked for a response to the report, Maryland Athletic Director Debbie Yow said in an e-mail that it was "not a credible 'rumor' " and that there had been no contact between the school and the Big East about a possible conference switch.
In a separate e-mail, Yow described the issue as "a waste of everybody's time."
