ROMAN BRAGLIO

Position / HS / Hometown: DE / McDonogh / Owings Mills, MD
Measurables: 6-3 / 240 / 4.65
Videos: [1]
Rankings and Profiles:
Other Schools: West Virginia; interest from Pitt, Tennessee
Notes: Braglio was Maryland's second commitment of the 2012 cycle, and the first from the Baltimore area. He possesses great speed and has been extraordinarily productive as a starter. He could stand to bulk up some, which should make him an effective all-around DE.

| NICK BRIGHAM | |
Position / HS / Hometown: G / Marist School / Atlanta, GA Measurables: 6-3 / 275 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Interest from BC, Georgia, Georgia Tech, UNC, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt Notes: Commitment #3. Maryland put an early emphasis on recruiting on both of the lines (that's fine by me) and they've followed through with it. Brigham is a little on the thin side as far as OL go, but not drastically, so he should be fine. He does a really nice job of getting to the second level, though he wasn't ultra-impressive at the line of scrimmage. A bit of a sleeper when he committed, Brigham has since established himself as one of the class' early gems. |

| MALCOLM CULMER | |
![]() |
Position / HS / Hometown: WR / Willingboro / Willingboro, NJ Measurables: 6-1 / 175 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: n/a Notes: Culmer was a camp offer, and there's minimal info on him online. A good portion of his highlights are defensive - and he's decent as a CB, for sure - but either way he showcases great speed and RAC ability. I'm also pretty impressed with his body control. |
| SEAN DAVIS | |
![]() |
Position / HS / Hometown: CB / Maret / Washington, DC Measurables: 6-1 / 172 Videos: n/a Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Boston College, UConn, Marshall Notes: Davis is a great story: formerly possessing minimal interest thanks to playing for a small high school, he camped heavily over the summer to pick up four FCS offers and interest from UNC. He pulled the trigger for hometown Maryland, and should be a three-star when all's said and done. |
| BROCK DEAN | |
Position / HS / Hometown: LB / Bishop McDevitt / Harrisburg, PA Measurables: 6-1 / 210 Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Temple, Pittsburgh Notes: Dean was down to three at the end, but also had interest and offers from schools like Arkansas and Penn State. He's a high three-star 'backer who's great against the run. As a bonus, he's good friends with super-recruit Noah Spence. |
| AMBA ETTA-TAWO | |
Position / HS / Hometown:WR / McEachern / Powder Springs, GA Measurables: 6-2 / 178 Videos: n/a Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Illinois, Purdue, South Florida, Southern Miss, UCF Notes: Despite the somewhat low rankings, Etta-Tawo had a pretty impressive offer sheet before picking Maryland. He's known as a speedster, but has great size and good hands, making him sort like Quintin McCree Mk. II. |
| P.J. GALLO | |
Position / HS / Hometown: TE / Council Rock South / Holland, PA Measurables: 6-4 / 225 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Cincinnati, UConn, UNC, N.C. State, Syracuse, Pitt, West Virginia Notes: Maryland was in serious need of getting a tight end in this class, if not two, and as such made Gallo a pretty heavy priority. He has good, though not great, size, and is quicker than his times indicate. He can be utilized in the passing game with pretty solid hands, which is a big plus given how much Crowton likes to use TEs in the passing game. |
| KENNETH GOINS | |
Position / HS / Hometown: RB/LB / Gilman / Baltimore, Md. Measurables: 5-10 / 210 Videos: n/a Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: ECU, Syracuse, Tulane Notes: Goins was a late offer and a late commitment, but an important one: he's Maryland's first player from Gilman in recent memory, and he will hopefully open up the pipeline to what has become the state's next big powerhouse. As for him as a prospect, he could end up at either side of the ball, but he's a bit undersized for linebacker. Combined with Maryland's need for bodies in the backfield, I'd line up him up in the backfield as a power back and potential short-yardage replacement for D.J. Adams. |
| DALLAS GRIFFITHS | |
Position / HS / Hometown: LB / North Florida Christian / Tallahassee, Fl. Measurables: 6-2 / 225 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: USF, Liberty, Georgia Tech, Southern Miss Notes: Griffiths reminds me of a guy like Alex Wujciak, at least physically, though he might actually be even a little faster. It's easy to hate on Wuj, but this year's team would've been much better with a big, physical type like him disrupting interior runs. |
| ALVIN HILL | |
Position / HS / Hometown: CB / Luella / Locust Grove, GA Measurables: 5-11 / 176 Videos: n/a Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Tennessee-Chattanooga Notes: Hill was a camp offer - he came to one of Maryland's junior camps and was impressive enough for Randy Edsall to pull the trigger on the spot. He had no other FBS offers, but camp offers are generally under-the-radar anyway. This is one where you'll just have to trust Edsall. Not that you have much choice. |
| PERRY HILLS | |
![]() |
Position / HS / Hometown: QB / Pittsburgh, PA / Central Catholic Measurables: 6-3 / 200 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Akron, Buffalo, Kent St., Miami (OH) Notes: Hills was a product of the hiring of Greg Gattuso, who's the Pittsburgh football version of Bino Ranson. Hills is at a position of serious need - Maryland had to get at least two QBs in this class - and I really do like his tape. He has a bit of a funky release that needs to be tweaked - it's almost side-armed at times - but he shows the ability to make some deep throws if he needs to, and he has nice mobility without overtly relying on it. He's my favorite underdog of the class so far. |
| STEFAN HOUSTON | |
Position / HS / Hometown: OLB / Clarksburg / Clarksburg, Md. Measurables: 6-3 / 200 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: East Carolina, Rutgers, West Virginia Notes: Houston lines up at wide receiver and in the secondary for Clarksburg, so I guess the projection of him to linebacker is basically just that: a projection. Maryland needs the bodies, though, and he has decent size for the spot, especially because he's stronger than his listed weight might let on. Still needs to add size. |
| ABNER LOGAN | |
![]() |
Position / HS / Hometown: LB / Dexter / Brookline, MA Measurables: 6-1 / 215 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Boston College, UConn, N.C. State, Northwestern, Syracuse Notes: Logan was a huge get for Maryland; the Terps were desperate for quality 'backers, and got a really good one in Logan. He's a hard-hitter who can play inside or out; I love his attacking style and tackling form. |
| MIKE MADARAS | |
Position / HS / Hometown: OT / Good Counsel / Olney, MD Measurables: 6-6 / 280 / 4.87 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Georgia Tech, Michigan, Miss. St., N.C. State, Pitt, South Carolina, Stanford, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin Notes: Maryland's first commitment of the cycle, Madaras was a big get for a number of reasons. First, he's highly-recruited and local, which is a combo Maryland doesn't fare too well with. Secondly, he's from Good Counsel, a local powerhouse at which Maryland doesn't have enough of a presence. Oh, and he's pretty good. He's young for his age, has great size, and possesses quick feet. The best commitment of the cycle so far. |
| ANTHONY NIXON | |
Position / HS / Hometown: WR/DB / Central Catholic / Pittsburgh, PA Measurables: 6-1 / 185 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Pitt; interest from Cincinnati, Iowa, Michigan State, West Virginia Notes: Nixon was supposedly recruited to Maryland as a safety, and with the depth of talent already at wide receiver he may have to stay in the secondary. But he's got talent on either side of the ball, with good elusiveness with the ball or an ability to lay down a big hit without it. |
| SHAWN PETTY | |
Position / HS / Hometown: LB / Eleanor Roosevelt / Greenbelt, MD Measurables: 6-3 / 230 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Interest from N.C. State, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers Notes: Petty also plays QB in high school, and has been recruited at both positions. I'm guessing he'll be a linebacker at Maryland, though, because the Terrapins have taken two QBs already. He has great size either way, though it's a little Daunte Culpepper-like at QB. He has great mobility and a decent arm under center. There isn't much film of him as a LB, but the size and mobility should transition well to the other side of the ball. |
| JOE RIDDLE | |
Position / HS / Hometown: RB/S / Linganore / Frederick, MD Measurables: 6-2 / 200 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Buffalo, Cincinnati Notes: A lot of people thought Riddle would end up as a safety in college, but I think it's more likely he'll be a running back right now. First of all, Maryland needs RB depth more than they need players at safety. Secondly, I just like him more there. His 40 time isn't too impressive, but he has good vision and a surprising top gear. |
| CALEB ROWE | |
Position / HS / Hometown: QB / Blue Ridge / Greer, SC Measurables: 6-3 / 211 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian Notes: Another camp offer. Maryland needs QBs in this class, so I can't fault them for taking the guy who was supposedly the best QB at their junior camps. He has fantastic athleticism - in fact, that appears to be his biggest selling point. He's wiry and plays with a live-wire energy. He doesn't throw many long balls, but he lets a 50-yarder go early on in his highlight reel so he appears to have enough arm to make the throws he needs to make. My worry is that he seems to really like to run, and while his legs are an asset, it's almost like he has happy feet at times. Serious under-the-radar guy, but his raw talent is enough to justify it. |
| AVERY THOMPSON | |
Position / HS / Hometown: LB / Grassfield / Chesapeake, VA Measurables: 6-3 / 195 Videos: n/a Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Interest from BC, UConn, Marshall, Virginia Tech Notes: Thompson was yet another camp offer. He's undersized and could be more of a safety, but that would make him perfect for the Kenny Tate STAR role. Either way, he'll probably need to bulk up at least a little in College Park. He has good quickness and is solid in run support, so there's a lot of versatility there. |
| RONALD DARBY | |
Position / HS / Hometown: DB / Potomac / Oxon Hill, MD Measurables: 5-11 / 175 Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Notre Dame (commitment), Auburn Notes: It sounds like Darby, who was present for Maryland's win over Miami, is rethinking his commitment to Notre Dame, and is giving Maryland a second chance. He's very good, in case the rankings above didn't tell you. He's the fastest player in the country - no, really, like USATF fast - and is a serious, Cliff Harris-type threat as a returner. Plans to run track in college, which might be a death knell for a Maryland program that just cut their men's track team. The Terrapins had their shot at him, but the more visits he takes the worse it looks. |
| JAMIE GILMORE | |
![]() |
Position / HS / Hometown: RB / North Marion / Citra, Fl. Measurables: 5-8 / 185 Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Duke, South Florida, Utah Notes: Gilmore certainly has a certain wow factor about him. He's not the biggest guy and I think he might lack a true top gear, but he has what appears to be good vision, is strong enough to run through arm tackles, and has elite change-of-direction. He's slippery and shifty with the ball, and that lets him break off some really impressive runs. He's also a factor in the passing game, both out of the backfield and as a decent blocker. He could challenge for early playing time. |
| D.J. READER | |
Position / HS / Hometown: G / Grimsley / Greensboro, NC Measurables: 6-3 / 330 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Auburn, Clemson, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Wake Forest Notes: Reader is an interesting recruit, because he doesn't really fit into Maryland's recent strategy when it comes to offensive linemen: he's too big. But I suppose it's as easy to work down as it is to work up, so there's potential. He's highly coveted, with some big-time offers (uh, Auburn). |
| ALBERT REID | |
![]() |
Position / HS / Hometown: RB/ATH / Friendship Collegiate / Washington, D.C. Measurables: 5-10 / 195 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: West Virginia, Colorado, Iowa, Vanderbilt Notes: Reid is a WVU commitment who's started to look around, and one of the school's he's looked at is hometown Maryland. He'd likely be a running back in College Park, though some project him as a safety; as a RB he has good, though I'm hesitant to say great, straight-line speed and good vision. He lacks the elusivity of a guy like Gilmore, but he's probably faster and that's the trade-off you're making. Oh, and of course it'd be great to get some in-roads at Friendship, which looks like a growing DC powerhouse. |
| DEAYSEAN RIPPY | |
Position / HS / Hometown: LB / Sto-Rox / Pittsburgh, PA Measurables: 6-2 / 200 Videos: [1] Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn St., Pitt, Syracuse, Tennessee, USC, West Virginia Notes: Rippy's interest in Maryland is primarily a result of the staff's growing, impressive Pitt connections. Lee Hull has become well-known in the area, but the homerun hitter is Greg Gattuso, the former Pitt DL coach and former WPIAL HS coach. He's a little undersized, but is athletic enough to be a trouble-maker both in the run and pass. |
| JEVON TYREE | |
![]() |
Position / HS / Hometown: ATH / South Brunswick / Monmouth Junction, N.J. Measurables: 5-11 / 180 Videos: n/a Rankings and Profiles: Other Schools: Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin Notes: Maryland's a part of Tyree's top three, supposedly, with Wisconsin lurking as his favorite but not having offered just yet. He's one of the more highly-regarded corners in the class, with good size for the position and the potential to be a lockdown-type in college. He'd be a very good late get for Maryland. |
