Quickley named Maryland alongside Kansas, Kentucky and Miami. This iteration of his list eliminates Virginia, Duke and Providence from consideration.
Maryland has missed out on a couple top guard targets recently in Prentiss Hubb and Brandon Slater, but all could be forgiven if the Terps could land Quickley.
Standing at 6’3, Quickley is the No. 2 point guard and the No. 9 overall prospect in the Class of 2018, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. Perhaps more importantly, Quickley is the No. 1 player in Maryland and is right in the Terps’ backyard.
“That's my hometown,” Quickley told Scout.com’s Evan Daniels. “I think hometown always has an advantage. What coach [Mark] Turgeon has done the past two or three years is special.”
Maryland doesn’t have a commit yet for the Class of 2018, but a pledge from Quickley would be an incredible way to kick off the class. Turgeon and company may have to wait a little while, though, as Quickley plans to take all his official visits before making a final decision sometime before his senior season.
