Maryland football starts its season in 69 days. Until then, we’re profiling every player on the team.
Roman Braglio, defensive end
Height: 6’2
Weight: 292 pounds
Year: Senior
High School: McDonogh HS (Owings Mills)
How how he got to College Park
Braglio was the No. 45 strong-side defensive end and the No. 17 player in Maryland in the class of 2012, per the 247Sports Composite.
He played both end and tackle in his first two seasons at Maryland in a 3-4 defense before Keith Dudzinski took the reigns of the team’s defense and installed a 4-3. Braglio started 10 games in 2015 as the team’s primary strong-side defensive end. He missed the Terps’ game against Ohio State with mono, but came back to the team after a bye week for its game against Penn State.
One career highlight so far
He hasn’t seen the field yet, so here’s a highlight video of Oliveira in high school:
2016 prospectus
Braglio enters the 2016 season as the team’s most experienced defensive lineman. He should pair with Jesse Aniebonam, who steps in to replace Yannick Ngakoue, to form a a fairly formidable duo. While Aniebonam should provide more flash with his speed and ability to get to the quarterback, Braglio should offer steady production across from him. He’ll rack up a few sacks and be a solid run-stuffer at the very least.
What a dream season might look like
Braglio excels against both the run and the pass as a senior, propelling him into the late rounds of the NFL Draft.
Up next in the series…
