Challenge Accepted: Testudo Times writers answer Mark Turgeon's call

9

Earlier this week, Maryland head basketball coach Mark Turgeon took part in the ALS Ice bucket challenge. In doing so, he also challenged all of Terpnation to accept the challenge and participate. On Friday, Pete Volk, Todd Carton and myself accepted the challenge and doused ourselves in ice in the ODK Foundation on the mall of Maryland's campus. If you'd like to participate in the ALS Challenge, we'd love to see your videos.

The XFINITY Center is now B1G

Check out the B1G logo on the XFINITY Center court. Looks pretty good!

Maryland football camp video will get you even more excited for the season

Among the highlights: shiftiness from Brandon Ross, Jacquille Veii and Albert Reid, a touchdown from Stefon Diggs and some pretty neat video editing.

Watch Gary Williams' Naismith Hall of Fame speech

Check out Gary's awesome, hilarious, and emotion acceptance speech during his Naismith Hall of Fame induction. Trust me, you'll enjoy the heck out of it.

Hello xfinity Center

Looks like the signage on what was formally the Comcast Center has changed. A new xfinity Center sign is now up and it looks like additional ones will be coming where former Comcast ones once were. I would suggest opening the picture in a new tab to see the full thing. Thanks to @TheFrenchyze for the picture.

Watch Randy Edsall get a bucket of ice dumped on him

15

Edsall, C.J. Brown and Matt Robinson all helped raise ALS awareness with this fun video. They were challenged by strength coach Drew Wilson and SID Matt Taylor, and they've called out A.J. Francis, Dexter McDougle and Joe Vellano to do the same.

Watch Maryland freshman Juwann Winfree's spectacular TD catch in practice

Winfree posted the video on his Twitter account. Remember, this is a blue-chip recruit who can do these things and is still on the outside looking in on the depth chart (at least for this year). Big Ten secondaries, watch out.

Offensive lineman Sean Christie likely out for the year

Via Roman Stubbs of the Post, it appears lineman Sean Christie will be out for the year after having surgery on a torn knee ligament. Christie would have most likely redshirted anyway, so in that regard it won't really hurt Maryland on the field this year, but it does mean he won't gain valuable experience and reps on the practice squad this season, which obviously would have been helpful heading into 2015.

Kansas transfer Andrew White visiting Maryland

96

Via an IMS report, it appears the Terps are still in the running with White, competing with Virginia Tech and Nebraska. White was Andrew Wiggins's backup last season, scoring 2.4 points with 1.2 rebounds in 6.3 minutes per game. His numbers look significantly better at the per 40 minutes level, at 15.6 and 7.8 (and 17.9/9.3 as a freshman). White was a highly regarded recruit coming out of the Miller School in Virginia, ranking as the 54th-best player in the nation and the 15th-best small forward.
