Coach Szefc suspended for two games

32

Maryland baseball Head Coach John Szefc has been suspended for two games by the NCAA for actions occurring during last Sunday's B1G Championship game. In the seventh inning there had been some jawing about the low strike zone. When the count went to 0-2 on Tim Lewis, Szefc stepped out of the dugout to give his batter some advice. The ump thought Szefc was coming out to argue the call of the previous pitch, and ejected Szefc from the game. The two game suspension will be served during the first two games of the NCAA Regional this weekend. Pitching coach Jim Bellanger has been named the interim manager.
