Reed to Auburn

2

Maybe this was already mentioned somewhere - but figured I'd mention it here. Sad to see that we can't admit him, but Auburn will start playing him in December -- I understand there may be more to the story, but still hurts...

Freshman LB Nnamdi Egbuaba out for the season

10

Egbuaba joins fellow true freshmen Sean Christie as players out due to surgery. A three-star prospect out of Baltimore, Egbuaba was deep down on the depth chart at SAM and was expected to redshirt this season.

Check out Maryland's new 1.5 pound crab and cheese pretzel

It will sell for $17.50 at Byrd and is supposed to feed four. I imagine some of you will try and take it on yourselves.

Per Don Markus, local PG John Crosby will not be joining the Terps this season

+

2014 3-star point guard John Crosby, who received a very late offer from Maryland, visited College Park this weekend. There was speculation that he might commit to the Terps and fill one of their two remaining scholarships, but according to Don Markus of the Baltimore Sun, it looks like he will continue with his original plan to attend prep school for a year. A Baltimore native, Crosby would've, in all likelihood, provided spot minutes at point guard. He's a good passer and floor general, but not known as a shooter. It was an intriguing option for the Terps but ultimately not one that would have made or broken them this this season.

Prince Ali commits to UCLA

21

That's another one-time 2015 target off the board -- Ali is a former UConn commit who was rumored at one point to like the Terps. The four-star shooting guard had narrowed his focus to UCLA, Louisville, Indiana and Michigan and appears to be joining up with the Bruins.

Kansas transfer Andrew White visiting Maryland

96

Via an IMS report, it appears the Terps are still in the running with White, competing with Virginia Tech and Nebraska. White was Andrew Wiggins's backup last season, scoring 2.4 points with 1.2 rebounds in 6.3 minutes per game. His numbers look significantly better at the per 40 minutes level, at 15.6 and 7.8 (and 17.9/9.3 as a freshman). White was a highly regarded recruit coming out of the Miller School in Virginia, ranking as the 54th-best player in the nation and the 15th-best small forward.

Gary Williams induction speech from last night. Very good, very humble.

4-star SF Dillon Brooks may re-classify to 2014, considering Maryland

43

In other "Maryland may pick up a surprising 2014 recruit" news, top Canadian prospect Dillon brooks is reportedly thinking of re-classifying up to 2014 and enrolling immediately at a school. From the story:

"Right now there isn't one school who I'd say is recruiting me harder than any other school, but Iowa State, Kansas State, Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois, Oregon, and Maryland are the schools talking to me on a regular basis," Brooks said."

He recently led the FIBA Americas tournament by scoring 25.2 points per game. He's described as a 'tweener' in the story linked above. Here's a highlight video:

Did Maryland just pick up another European big man?

106

That's a tweet from a few days ago from Bosnian sports journalist Igor Marinovic, claiming Maryland has landed Croatian prospect Ivan Bender, who stands at 6'9" . Coupled with this story by Luke Winn on superstar prospect (and Ivan's brother) Dragan Bender, which says Ivan is "expected to play for Maryland next season as a freshman," and it appears the Terps may be picking up some frontcourt help sooner than anticipated.
