I'm sure many of you got the sports notifications on your phones, but for those have haven't heard, looks like Louisville has self-imposed a 2016 ban on itself. They will not compete in the NCAA or ACC tournaments.
This is a pretty depressing scenario given that no one on the current team is a part of the investigation. I was reading through the Louisville SB Nation site, and posters were saying Damion Lee and Trey Lewis cried when they heard the news. Us terps fans are obviously familiar with Damion Lee, but he and Lewis transfered from Drexel and Cleveland State respectively for a chance to compete for a national championship.
Now they won't get that chance because of the poor choices of an assistant coach a few years back.
I'm sure this was a move to soften pending NCAA sanctions, but personally I don't agree with it. I think Rick Pitino had a chance to protect his players here by suspending himself for the remainder of the season, because this ultimately all falls back on him. But he didn't and now these kids are being punished for something they had nothing to do with.
This makes me sad.
