High school stats: Garman didn't play his senior year due to problems with his transfer to a new high school, but here are his stats from his junior year:
23 passing touchdowns, 2,311 passing yards, 218 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown.
Composite recruiting rating: Three stars (.8109), No. 31 dual-threat quarterback, No. 193 player in Texas.
Who Maryland beat: He is on his third college, but Arizona beat out Rice and Iowa State for Garman's services back in 2010.
High school highlights:
How'd He Get to College Park?
Maryland is Garman's third school in four years. After redshirting his freshman year at Arizona, Garman transferred to Oklahoma State. He redshirted one season there before assuming the starting role early last year when starter J.W. Walsh got injured. Garman was replaced by true freshman Mason Rudolph before the end of the season.
Career Highlight:
Beating Texas Tech by throwing 370 passing yards and four touchdowns.
Dream Season:
He wins the starting quarterback job in the preseason and is finally able to harness his arm strength into consistent success.
2015 Prospectus:
Garman looks entrenched for a battle with Caleb Rowe for the starting quarterback spot, but Rowe's experience with the program probably gives him a slight edge. Even if Garman does lose the battle, Rowe's injury history and inconsistent play means the transfer gunslinger will probably see some playing time this year at some point.
Up Next:
Our next player is a linebacker who hails from the same town as the most prestigious university in the country.
