High school highlights:
How'd He Get to College Park?
McKennie helped McDonogh to back-to-back MIAA Championships during his final two years with the school, making All-Met and all-state first teams. He was also an Honor Roll student eight times over, showing those smarts when he committed to the Terrapins in May 2014.
"Being close to home was a big thing for me," he told us soon after. "Maryland is about two hours from my house so it's not too far of a drive. It's just far enough away and close enough that it's perfect."
Career Highlight:
Signing with Maryland.
Dream Season:
McKennie plays well on the scout team, setting up playing time opportunities in 2016.
2015 Prospectus:
It's unlikely that we'll see much of Ellis McKennie this season -- Maryland also brought in Quarvez Boulware and E.J. Donahue at guard, and have experienced players in Andrew Zeller and Ryan Doyle already at the position. McKennie could play a role down the line with the Terps, but expect him to redshirt this season.
Up Next:
Our next player was named to the Maryland Small School All-State Team while in high school, and is now one of the more surprising names to emerge as a potential starter this season.
