After fondly remembering the month of September last year, I started looking at the schedule for this year and the first thought that came into my mind was, "Wow, we could start 5-0". I’m sure that a lot of this is just coming from off-season bravado, but part of me really thinks we could be ranked again like we were before the FSU debacle last season.
- JMU- I was there the last time we played the Dukes at home in the most depressing overtime victory that there ever was, and I haven’t learned my lesson. Chalking it up as W 40 days in advance.
- USF- They were 2-10 last season in the AAC, and I just don’t see them getting too much better. W
- WVU- This one is a toss-up, but the Mountaineers start the season against Alabama and Towson, so they could be starting the season 0-2 and in shambles. Even though I have no confidence in this pick, I’m going to predict that the Brown-Diggs-Long machine will be clicking on all cylinders and will allow us to start off 3-0. W
- Syracuse- I came into last year’s Syracuse-MD game thinking that it’d be a cakewalk because, I mean, it was Syracuse, and in my lifetime they were an unimposing team even by Big East standards. As such, I walked away crushed. That being said, last year’s game came a week after a brutal loss to the Demon Deacons where we lost both Diggs and Long for the season. Assuming Brown, Diggs, and Long are all healthy, I think this’ll end up being yet another W for the Terps. W
- Indiana- Indiana’s offense is potent, but if their defense is anything like last year, then it’ll be suspect as all get out. It’ll be a shootout, but I think that the Terps Will Likely win thanks to some timely CB play. W
After the first five games? Well, let’s just hope that it’s nothing like last year.
