Virginia strung together 17 hits compared to Maryland's nine. Maryland is still riding a hot streak, winning 15 of their last 18 contests, while Virginia has won 11 of their last 16.

Rankings and records: Although hitting a "bump in the road" according to coach John Szefc, Maryland still owns the program record with a 40-22 mark. Virginia bounced back from their opening game loss to Maryland to improve their record to 48-14. Maryland owns the series season 2-1 but Virginia holds the all-time head-to-head 102-77-1.
Vegas: Maryland is against all odds according to Boyd's World, yet they are just one win away from their first ever appearance in Omaha.
