Sun Article, "Terps try to move past tumultuous offseason and on to new success"

As I mentioned the other day Don Markus has been on a hot streak with his Terps coverage. Apparently, Coach Turgeon believes he is on "fire" also...

Recalling a conversation he had with the mother of one recruit who had mentioned his "hot seat," Turgeon said he told her: "Hot seat? I'm on fire. Melo Trimble. Dez Wells. Dion Wiley. Jared Nickens. Michal Cekovsky. Trayvon Reed. Robert Carter.

I hope that Turgeon is right and that this season will be better. I really like him as a person and recruiter, but like we all know, he just needs to show that he can be successful on the court.

I know this might not mean a whole lot, but when I watched Turge coach the NCAA Reese's All Star game, I was impressed with what I saw. He had a lot of good, not great players on his squad, but for whatever reason, the team was buying into his offense/playing a team game, where as Johnny Dawkins team was just playing the game like typical kids in an All-Star game (alley oops & other show off moves). Turge's team listened to him, bought into the style of play and excelled. It wasn't even a game. His guys looked above and beyond Dawkins team and won handily. It showed me that if he has the pieces in place and said pieces follow the game plan, that he can be a successful coach. If the guys coming in have a team mentality, I can't imagine them not being successful.

Here's the link to the full article. It is a great read and has a lot of Turgeon quotes and great information:
