Maryland - Clemson baseball game cancelled due to rain

Almost like clockwork when the first pitch of today's game was thrown the rain started coming down. It became worse within minutes and play had to be halted with Clemson batting in the top of the second inning. The game will resume tomorrow at a time and location TBA.

Zach Morris was on the mound for the Terps. He had issued a walk in the first and no hits. But in the top of the second with rain pelting the players, Morris walked the first two batters. With a 1 - 0 count on the next batter it was apparent that footing on the mound was compromised by the weather.

Shipley Field has a turf infield and natural grass outfield. The game might be resumed tomorrow at Harford Community College, which has a completely artificial turf field. Maryland has played two games this season at that site.

I'll post an update as soon as I get word on tomorrow's resumption of the third game between Maryland and Clemson.

The third game of the series between Clemson and Maryland has been rained out. It will not be made up. Maryland's next game is at home Tuesday against #25 VCU Rams.
