Maryland recruiting roundup: Ashton White decommits from Virginia Tech, new offers extended

Plenty of high-profile visitors in football.

Big basketball day Thursday, so the recruiting roundup gets moved up to Wednesday this week.

Basketball:

Maryland has extended a 2016 offer to shooting guard De'Monte Buckingham, who also holds an offer from Virginia.

Four-star 2015 power forward Esa Ahmad picked up an offer from Indiana.

Football:

Three-star cornerback Ashton White, who recently transferred to Bishop McNamara and is good friends with Damian Prince, decommitted from Virginia Tech. Maryland appears to be in good position on this one, but will have to hold off the Hokies and Ohio State.

Four-star offensive tackle Matthew Burrell visited College Park for the second time in as many weeks, and appears to have enjoyed it.

Three-star offensive guard Tommy Hatton, four-star tight end Chris Clark and three-star cornerback Kareem Ali also visited.

For the Virginia game, Maryland hosted three-star DeMatha athlete Tyler Green, 2016 DeMatha defensive end Shane Simmons, 2016 DeMatha wide receiver Tino Ellis, 2016 DeMatha running back Lorenzo Harrison, 2015 Delaware wide receiver Elisha Sewell, 2015 Virginia cornerback Kobe Marfo and 2015 three-star offensive guard Ellis McKennie.

The day after, Maryland received a visit from four-star Virginia offensive tackle Grant Newsome.

Maryland has offered four-star Florida offensive lineman William Sweet, who holds offers from Florida State, Florida and Georgia, among others.

The Terps also offered four-star Florida running back Ray-Ray McCloud III, who holds offers from Florida State, Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Clemson, among others.

Four-star defensive lineman Adam McLean picked up offers from Notre Dame and Kentucky.

Three-star safety Jay Stocker picked up an offer from Purdue.

Three-star tight end/defensive end Jake Pickard received offers from Virginia and Rutgers.

Three-star safety Ayron Monroe received an offer from Boston College.

Canadian defensive tackle Neville Gallimore picked up an offer from Cal.

Three-star local offensive guard David Robbins picked up an offer from Old Dominion.
