Three-star tight end Andrew Gray has officially signed with the Terps after committing to Maryland in June before his senior campaign.

The 6'4" 215 pounder is rated the 70th-best tight end in the country and the 98th-best recruit in Ohio. At Chardon High School, Gray was guided by Coach Mitch Hewitt who played for Urban Meyer at Bowling Green. The senior proved his solid hands but perhaps more so his physicality on the perimeter with his school's run-heavy offensive scheme.
Gray turned down offers to schools such as Wisconsin, Louisville, Ball State and Ohio as well as his coach's alma-mater to cement a spot in College Park for the coming year. He did so swiftly, becoming the fifth oral commitment early this summer for class of 2014 recruits.
With Dave Stinebaugh graduating, Gray will be competing for a spot against fellow tight ends P.J. Gallo and Andrew Isaacs.

Pete Volk, Testudo Times managing editor: Gray is an interesting prospect, as a block-first tight end who brings a lot of physicality to the position. He may even break through for playing time as a true freshman in more run-based sets, but he'll almost certainly make an impact down the line in the run game.
