Maryland Minute 2.10.14 -- Nebraska Big Ten move has negative short-term financial effects

Projections for next season, updated on former Terps and more from Seth Allen's great game.

Nebraska not reaping financial windfall from Big Ten move - yet - Corn Nation
Turns out Nebraska would be earning more in the Big 12 this year! The long-term is not so certain, but basically the Big 12 negotiated a new (better) TV deal after the Cornhuskers left.

But there's this, on Maryland:

Maryland, who joins the Big Ten next season, received a better deal initially (perhaps double what Nebraska will receive in 2014-15) than Nebraska, though the Big Ten is quick to point out that the situation with Maryland is quite different. Maryland is likely to face a much steeper buyout from their agreement with the ACC ($52 million, though the issue is still under litigation), and the ACC deal that Maryland left ($20 million per school) is much sweeter than the previous Big XII deal ($9 million) that Nebraska left behind. The Big Ten still believes that Maryland and Rutgers each will have to wait six years, like Nebraska, before being fully vested into sharing Big Ten revenues equally. At it's core, the Big Ten wants each school to have at least as good of a deal with the move as the one they left behind.

Morning review: Seth Allen was on fire vs. FSU, but Terps need his leadership most
I think Prewitt hits the nail on the head here -- what was most impressive about Allen's 32-point explosion was the fact that he did feel under control. It didn't seem like he was just jacking up shots at every opportunity, but rather picking his spots and executing.

Seth Allen "could make anything" on career night vs. FSU | Comcast SportsNet Baltimore

Allen admitted that on the three-point shot in which he was fouled, he "would have probably gotten in trouble" for taking the shot if there was no foul and he missed it.
