Ever wondered what Maryland's assistant coaches make? We've got answers for you, via a nifty little tool from USA Today. With the coaching carousel season heating up (and at least one Maryland assistant a candidate elsewhere), consider this an early look into how much budget flexibility the Terps would have if an assistant were to take another position.
Mike Locksley is the fifth-highest paid assistant in the conference, behind Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi, Michigan defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, Michigan offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and Nebraska offensive coordinator Tim Beck. His offenses at Maryland have been far from consistent, but he received a contract extension in March after ranking as the top recruiter in the conference.
Maryland's total assistant compensation, at around $2.59 million, ranks seventh in the Big Ten, behind Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska. Penn State and Northwestern are not included on the list.
Former LSU offensive line coach Greg Studrawa and former NFL receiver Keenan McCardell, both hired before this season, are the highest-paid non-coordinator assistants for the Terps. Chad Wilt, the other new hiring this offseason, is at the bottom of the list.
