Behemoth Ju-Co Lineman Larry Mazyck Commits to Maryland

US PRESSWIRE

The Locksley train keeps picking up steam as a former Friendship Collegiate standout returns to Maryland.

In an unsurprising move, the Mike Locksley train picked up another passenger as Maryland received a commitment today in a position of need as they transition into the B1G. Huge offensive lineman Larry Mazyck, who played his high school ball for Friendship Collegiate, is listed a 6' 7" and 330 pounds or 6' 8" and 340 pounds depending on the source and is coming to College Park. Coming out of high school, Mazyck was rated a three star by Rivals. He is currently unrated as he joins the class of 2014 becoming Maryland's third offensive lineman in the class and joining McDonough's Jared Cohen and Brendan Moore from Austin, Texas. The latter two are three star recruits on Rivals. Mazyck is the tenth commitment for the class of 2014.

Mazyck originally committed to Maryland and was, in fact, the Terps first commitment in the class of 2011 He went on to prep a year at Fort Union before reneging on his commitment to Maryland. It looked like he was headed to Vanderbilt. However, he ended up out west where, as a freshman, he played in seven games as a backup for, you guessed it, Mike Locksley's New Mexico Lobos. With Locksley's departure, Mazyck also moved, taking himself to Iowa Western Community College where he was a teammate of the Terps very on Deon Long. According to 247sports.com, Mazyck received Maryland's re-offer on August 13th. His journey now comes full circle as he returns home to play for the Terps.
