Via Alex Prewitt at the Post and Jeff Barker at the Sun, we have more details about Wes Brown's suspension from the University.
First up, Prewitt confirms what we thought - if Brown meets the mysterious "benchmarks", this will essentially serve as a redshirt season.
If Wes Brown meets these benchmarks and returns in January, it's effectively a redshirt year. "Think of it in that regard," his lawyer said.— Alex Prewitt (@alex_prewitt) August 2, 2013
Next up, from Barker - Brown is not only suspended from the team, but from the University, and he may enroll at a local community college to continue his schooling (good on him).

And finally, again from Barker, a little more clarity on what the suspension is for - not the open case in Baltimore, but his interaction with police in College Park (in which all charges were dropped).
