High School Highlights:

How'd He Get to College Park?

Madaras was one of the best players in the state of Maryland as a high school senior, and was the first commitment of the Terps' 2012 class, beating Roman Braglio by a day. He was a four-year starter at Good Counsel, starting at right tackle as a freshman before eventually moving over to left tackle, and he earned consensus all-state honors in 2011.

Maryland seemed to be the choice for Madaras from the beginning - when asked by Matt Bracken for his runner-up in the recruiting process, the former Falcon said "Honestly, I have no clue. I don't even know." Besides Maryland, he also received offers from a bunch of other schools, including Michigan, Stanford, and Wisconsin. For offensive linemen, it's hard to think of schools with more prestige, especially when thinking about the recent success of the latter two.

Madaras was recruited to Maryland by Tom Brattan, and cited his relationship with the offensive line coach and the location of the school as his two main reasons for becoming a Terp.

Last year, Madaras played in the first four games as a reserve left tackle, before taking over for Nick Klemm as the starter before the Wake Forest game. He started the next eight games, setting himself up for the full-time starting job this season.

Nickname:

"Magic"

Career Highlight:

Starting eight games last year.

Dream Season:

With questions abound about the other tackle position, Madaras is able to keep C.J. Brown's blindside safe.

2013 Prospectus:

Madaras is a lock at left tackle. We've talked about it throughout camp, but right tackle is where there's trouble (Nick Klemm and Ryan Doyle are competing for the slot), and it's likely that whoever loses that battle will serve as the primary back-up for both positions (with Michael Dunn as the fourth guy).

With the amount of hype surrounding him coming out of high school, a lot is expected out of Madaras this year. It is safe to say the offensive line is Maryland's weakest unit, and a significant improvement from their young left tackle would go a long way towards making that line adequate.

Up Next:

Our next player is from a city that shares its name with two English Premier League teams.
