Brendan Moore Commits to Maryland

The Terps reach into Texas.

In the past 24 hours, Maryland has received three football commitments for the 2014 class. It started with Brett Kulka and continued with another Pennsylvanian defender, Tyler Burke. And now, as Rivals reports, two/three-star Texas lineman Brendan Moore will be a Terp.

Moore is an offensive lineman, and will either play guard or tackle at Maryland. He stands at 6'4" and weighs around 260 pounds, and hails from Austin, Texas, as the Terps continue to plow their way through unproven recruiting ground. Defensive coordinator Brian Stewart was the lead on Moore's recruitment.

Moore lists offers from Boise State, Houston, Missouri and Wake Forest, among others - the first offer is particularly telling, as the Broncos have built their success in the trenches. He goes to Westwood High School.

24/7 rates him as a three-star recruit, ranking him as the 78th-best offensive tackle in the country and the 144th-best player in Texas. ESPN also gives him three stars, putting him 59th at his position and 120th in his state. Rivals gives him two stars and Scout has not yet rated him.

Moore is the first Texas commitment for Maryland since cornerback Jo Jo Walker (who ended up playing wide receiver) in 2002, and as one of the premier football states in the country, it's never a bad idea to recruit in that direction.
