Maryland Baseball: the path to the NCAA tournament still exists

After 36 games The Terps stand at 19-17 (5-13 in ACC games). Their RPI is 37 and Warren Nolan's Power Index has them at 107. Neither are probably correct and the Terps are most likely on the "First Four Out" list for the NCAA tournament. Rather than lament what could have been (oh, those one run losses!!!!) I'll suggest a path the team can take to put it in the NCAA tournament.

1. Get invited to the ACC Tournament. The top 8 teams go and Maryland is 3 games behind at this point. However, they get to play Virginia Tech and Duke, the former at home. The Terps need to take 5 of those 6 games.

2. Take at least one of three from Clemson and sweep hapless Boston College.

3. Win out the seven remaining non-conference games. A tough but very possible outcome.

The above would put Maryland at 35-20 overall and 14-16 in ACC play. This is not unthinkable now that Keine, Hagel, and Hockaday are back from injuries, and Jake Stinnett is pitching well. There's probably a chance if Maryland loses one or two more games than the above scenario as their SOS is #9 in the country.
