Chuck's homecoming. - USA TODAY Sports
Talk Terps-Jackets (and Charles Mitchell's homecoming game) right here.
Preview is right here. The game tips at 8:00 sharp on the ACC Network*, so check your local listings. For those not so lucky to have it on the tube, you can catch it online at ESPN3 or, supposedly, theACC.com/live.
Random, Baseless Prediction: My oddly-specific but not random nor baseless prediction is that Charles Mitchell has a productive homecoming, putting up double-digit points and at least five boards, all of the traditional garbageman variety. The true RBP today? Seth Allen puts on a first-half shooting exhibition and drains three early three-pointers, like a poor Terrapin's Logan Aronhalt.
Prediction: Daniel Miller, Georgia Tech's center, is pushing seven feet, which is oddly good news for Maryland fans. Alex Len always seems to show up when he's pushed, usually physically, by a fellow big man. So after a few quiet games, I'm expecting a double-double from him tonight for the most unintuitive of reasons.
Anyway, this game is not entirely dissimilar from the Boston College game, or in fact a few other games Maryland's had this year, in that it's a road game they should win right after they start building back up some momentum. They lost most of those games, and you'd think they'd be in trouble here, too, except for one thing: no one is expecting anything anymore. This team seems to struggle with the weight of external expectation, especially in games they're supposed to win. That external expectation is shot now, and that'll help them. Plus, maybe I'm just an optimist, but I feel like they've learned their lesson.
Maryland by eleven, something like 71-60.
