Gary and the one and done rule

Everything that could be possibly said after the Virginia game has been said. No true point guard, Turgeon's in game decision making, no leader etc. Then of course we got to comparing coaches in their first few years in the program. Obviously Lefty and Gary are the two being compared with Turgeon in terms of coaching/recruiting. This got me thinking about Gary Williams for some reason. Since he never was a fan of AAU ball, Terp fans did not see blue blood talent enter Comcast. Gary has an ACC championship and Natty so he believed it worked this far, why change now. My question is if Gary never won a National Championship, would he adapted and delved into AAU ball or atleast become more agressive? Apologies if this has come up in the past...
