The moment you've been waiting for is (sort of) here; basketball season is upon us. Maryland will play their only exhibition game of the season today as they take on Catholic University. Normally an exhibition game such as this is simply a chance to run through what a typical gameday will be like for the players and coaches. But today's game has much more significance than most exhibitions, as we anxiously await to see how Maryland responds without Seth Allen in the lineup running the offense. How will Dez Wells do running the point? How many minutes will freshman Roddy Peters get?
The Opponent:
The Catholic University Cardinals are located just 5.7 miles down the road from College Park. They compete in Division III and won the D-3 NCAA title in basketball in 2001. They're a charter member of the Landmark Conference. Last season they finished with a record of 25-4 and had three players who averaged at least 14 points per game. Two of those players have graduated, so the team is now led by junior Steve Limberiou, who is a 6'5" guard/forward who should be the Cardinals best player on the court Sunday.
