Maryland-ACC lawsuit update: Maryland's bid for dismissal rejected

Evan Habeeb-US PRESSWIRE

The ACC's lawsuit will continue after a court ruling.

The ACC's lawsuit against Maryland has survived another step, as a North Carolina appeals court has rejected Maryland's bid for dismissal.

The ACC is suing the university for $52 million for exiting the conference for the Big Ten, and this ruling means that suit will continue. The AP reports that because the ruling was unanimous, Maryland has "no automatic right to a state Supreme Court appeal."

The conference sued Maryland in November, and the university responded by suing them back in January. A Maryland judge ruled that Maryland's suit has to wait until the North Carolina courts finish their ruling on the conference's case.

What does this mean for Maryland's buyout? Who knows! Testudo Times lawyers or wanna-be lawyers, take to the comments to discuss.
