Maryland can officially say they have found their big man for 2014, as commitment Trayvon Reed, a center, signed his letter of intent and will be coming to College Park next season.
Just got out of a meeting, catching up on #Terps notes. Hoops office has received signed letters of intent from Trayvon Reed, Dion Wiley.— Alex Prewitt (@alex_prewitt) November 13, 2013
Reed was the last commitment of the Terps' 2014 class (at least so far), helping bump the class to a top-five national ranking. He committed to the program on August 22, after taking his official visit to College Park.
Considered a four-star by the 247sports composite, Reed is rated as the 75th-best player in the class. He is ranked as the ninth-best center in the country, and the second-best prospect in the state of New Jersey.
Reed will add much-needed size to the Terrapin frontcourt, especially in a class that is mostly guard-based -- he is listed at 7'1" and 218 pounds, and is a skilled passer from the inside.
He also had offers from Florida, Florida State, Memphis and Miami, among others.
