Does it bother anyone else that the logistics behind this no-brainer annual game can't be figured out?
As a brief history, Maryland and Georgetown have not played since 2008, when the Terps fell to the Hoyas 75-48. But prior to 1980, this was an annual game, with Maryland leading the all-time series 36-27.
Maryland's long-standing series with Duke is over. Georgetown's long-standing series with Syracuse is over. But realignment be damned, let's get the Terps and Hoyas together for a well-deserved mutual rivalry between two local universities with enough in common to make it interesting and enough differences to make it heated.
Sounds simple enough, right? But KA needs to drop his blacklisting of all Georgetown sports and an appropriate venue needs to be sorted out. Personally, I would support Maryland letting Georgetown host in the Verizon Center for the first few years to build up enough demand that we can start alternating venues.
