Maryland vs. Florida State score update: Terps trail 21-0 at half

Everything that could possibly go wrong for Maryland did in the second quarter, as poor tackling, even poorer coverage, and an injury to quarterback C.J. Brown leaves Maryland with a 21-0 deficit heading into the half.

Maryland started the second quarter with the ball in Seminole territory. After a two-yard run from Albert Reid, the Terps attempted some trickeration, with a reverse toss to Stefon Diggs turning into a pass from Diggs to Deon Long that was broken up in the end zone. Brad Craddock missed a 51-yard field goal off the left upright, keeping it at 7-0 Florida State.

The Terps forced a three-and-out on Florida State's next drive, culminating in an Andre Monroe sack of Jameis Winston. On the next drive, Stefon Diggs made an incredible play, catching the ball in front of Lamarcus Joyner near midfield for the first down. The drive ended on an incomplete pass to Diggs, forcing another punt from Renfro.

Florida State's offense returned in force on the next drive, as poor tackling and even poorer secondary coverage led to a Seminole touchdown. Devonta Freeman culminated the nine-play, 80-yard drive with a five-yard touchdown run, making it 14-0 Florida State.

On the next drive, Maryland's offensive problems became even more serious when C.J. Brown took a huge hit from Jacobbi McDaniel on what appeared to be an illegal hit. Caleb Rowe came in and completed three passes in a row for two first downs, with one being called back on a Nigel King holding call. The drive ended in a Maryland punt.

The Seminoles would score once more before the half ended, as Winston found Kelvin Benjamin in the end zone to make it 21-0.
