The year is 2015
Maryland has just finished it's inaugural football season in the B1G after going 5-7 (Those 5 wins coming from some combination of JMU, USF, WVU, Cuse, IU, and Rutgers). Maryland has decided it's time to part ways with Edsall by not renewing his contract. The fan base is happily distracted by watching Mark Turgeon and company win their inaugural B1G championship game in route to back to back final four appearances.
The football coaching search is taking longer than it should. Media reports are a mix that KA is either too nervous about making another mistake or playing his cards close to the vest. The fanbase is clamouring for a big name hire. Leech is unavailable and nobody knows who the splashy hire is. Of course people throw Gruden's name around. Every fan base in need of a head coach says that. Then Lane Kiffin is brought in for an interview, sure he couldn't cut it at USC, but maybe Maryland is different.
But then after a second disastrous season in Philadelphia, Chip Kelly is fired by the Eagles. Maryland fans begin to wonder, to hope, and finally we get a tweet from Alex Prewitt indicating that Kelly has in fact been hired to revive the dormant Maryland football program.
It's nearly 6am east coast time, but here in this former soviet town, we've been celebrating the day when soldiers leave for the army. So I've had a few celebratory shots of vodka.
