2014 Baseball Schedule Released: Something Old, Something New

Here's the link: http://www.umterps.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=29700&ATCLID=209278775 extended entry

Again the Terps open the season on the road against an SEC opponent. But this time it's Florida instead of powerhouse LSU. The Terps face NCAA CWS participant Bryant as well as bottom-feeder Massachusetts. The rest of the non-conference schedule looks pretty much like last year.

There are some changes to our ACC schedule. Out are Miami, Puke, and Virginia. In are Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, and Pittsburgh. It doesn't look like the ACC shafted the baseball team like they did to the basketball team. Puke was very beatable but Virginia and Miami were tough. While Notre Dame is no slouch, they are no Virginia. Plus, Notre Dame plays here while we travel to Pitt. The rest of the ACC scheduling was predicated on where we played last year, for example UNC is at home as we travelled there last year.

So let's hope our last year in the ACC is a good one. With the addition of Notre Dame, Pitt, and Syracuse I'm not certain what format will be used for teams qualifying for the ACC Tournament.
