The Terps ran an option play to the left side, and C.J. Brown pitched it to Brandon Ross, who ran it near the first down line. While the play was going on, Long was blocking on the left side, but a defender rolling up on his leg, bending it in an extremely unnatural and painful way.
Long was carted off the field, and the extent of the injury is not yet known. Stefon Diggs was also injured on the play, but his injury did not look serious.
The junior entered the game with the team lead in receptions (28), with 446 yards and one touchdown. He was leading the team with four receptions for 43 yards in the day.
