When Cole Field House closed after the 2001-2002 National Championship season, the court from the historic building was cut up and sold to Maryland fans who wanted to remember one of the most historic buildings in college basketball. Once the floor was removed, Cole was turned into a recreation building, mainly for indoor soccer use. So one of the coolest things about hosting Maryland Madness in the building has been the return of a basketball court to the historic building.
