PR/KR - whatever happened to the Tony Logan and Steve Suter approach

So I was going to post this last night but I was drunk and it was unintelligible....to the point where I looked at what I saved and decided to start from scratch.

Why are we using positional players who we EXPECT to be huge contributors on offense and defense as ST returners? Doesn't it make more sense to use the 3rd string WRs or a DB buried on the depth chart with speed? I understand Diggs, Likely and L. Jacobs are stellar athletes with speed and shiftiness, but Diggs is a true Sophomore and Likely a true freshman who are EXPECTED to play at a high level at WR & DB consistently.

I think dividing their time in practice hurts the team. Diggs is our star WR, Likely a starting DB - let them focus on that. Use a Jacobs brother or Amba-Ettou or someone else as a PR/KR. Suter barely played WR until he was a senior (and then had the injury)....same with Logan. But since they were focused on PR/KR, they were damn great at that role.

Am I completely off base with this thinking? Practice time is a limited asset; would hate to see it split for our young players at this stage of their careers.
