Recruiting roundup: Terps host third-ranked player in 2015 this weekend

Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

Big news on the recruiting front.

Maryland is making some moves on two top-ten players in 2015 -- one basketball, one football. Let's run down the week that was in recruiting.

First, basketball:

Both Maryland and Kentucky visited with five-star 2015 power forward Carlton Bragg, considered the ninth-best player in the class.

Old friend Sam Cassell, Jr. committed to Connecticut.

Now for football news:

Former 2014 Terp target Kevin Wilkins, a three-star guard from New Jersey, committed to Rutgers.

2014 Maryland target Marquel Dickerson ran 28 times for 207 yards and two touchdowns in his game last weekend.

Maryland has offered 2015 four-star cornerback Maurice Smitherman, from Alabama.

Two top Maryland targets visited Virginia Tech -- 2014 Gilman defensive end Melvin Keihn, who afterwards said the Hokies were on top for him, and five-star 2015 defensive tackle Tim Settle. Settle is considered the third-best player in the country, and is scheduled to visit Maryland next.

Local 2015 offensive guard/defensive tackle Richie Petitbon received an offer from Boston College.
