The Next 6 Games Will Define Our Season

So a few days have gone and now that the FSU loss is behind us I think we can start to put it in perspective. Yes, it was a terrible loss at home where we blew a 15 point lead after completely collapsing in the 2nd half... but you know what, sh*t happens! Are we the first team to ever lose a lead at home?

Too many people are panicking and hopping off the bandwagon after just one bad loss. We've lost 2 games this year by a total of 6 points. Turgeon will use this as a teaching moment for his guys, and I think you'll see him be a bit quicker to call timeout next time a team is making a run at us. Luckily, the chance for this team to rebound is right now in the next 6 games.

Take a look at our upcoming schedule, I've bolded what I believe are chances for "quality" wins (something we obviously need to start collecting if we want to dance):

1/13 @ Miami

1/16 vs. NC State

1/19 @ UNC

1/22 vs. Boston College

1/26 @ Duke

1/30 @ FSU

Bottom line is, we need to take 2 of the next 3. I don't particularly like our chances @Duke and @FSU, but if we can take 2 of the next 3, that still would put us at 4-4 after the FSU away game. If we are sitting at 4-4 or better after that game I think we are still in pretty good shape to dance. The schedule really softens up after that game, albeit if opportunities for quality wins are few and far between. It doesn't take a huge imagination to see us going 8-2 or 7-3 down the stretch. 11+ wins plus 1 or 2 in the ACC Tournament gets us dancing, almost assuredly.

Lose these next 3 games, and limp out of the FSU road game at 2-6 or 3-5, it's going to be tough sledding. But if MT can get these guys back on track and winning at least half of the next 6 games, we are still in good shape.
