This story broke last night. Apparently, in 2009 Lance Thomas bought $90K worth of jewelry and only paid $30K for it. He was supposed to pay the remaining $67K within 15 days, only the payment never came. Raises a couple of questions: 1) how does a college kid pay $30K for jewelry? 2) what happened to the $67K he was supposed to pay?

At the moment it is a ton of smoke but no real fire. It's unclear how this would tie back to the program, and if Coach K would ever be brought into this. The Dook hater in me wants them to get exposed and in hot water with the NCAA, but the realist in me thinks nothing will happen. Still, it's a lot of money thrown around at a jewelry shop and it should be brought to public attention. At the very lease, the squeaky clean Dook reputation might take a little bit of a hit with this story.
