Being a Hokies fan I would love nothing more this weekend that for Maryland to crush West Virginia... but I'd be satisfied if you guys win by 1. That said, what will it take for the Terrapins to pull the upset in Morgantown?
The Mountaineers are 27-point favorites, so it won't be easy to get the upset. However, the Terps already have one road win which seemed out of reach before the season began - @Temple. West Virginia may be tougher, but not unbeatable. What will it take to win? Here's the way I see it (maybe you guys see it differently):
1) pressure the WVU QB - Syracuse beat them last year, and you're as good as they are. In that game Geno Smith threw 2 picks, and the Orange "D" held the Mountaineers to 2.9 yards/carry rushing.
2) play mistake-free, particularly on offense. Last year Syracuse had zero turnovers in the WVU game.
3) control the clock. When Syracuse defeated W Virginia last year, the Orange possessed the ball almost 36 minutes (vs. just over 24 for WVU). That helped to frustrate the Mountaineer offense.
Of course, Syracuse was also at home last year... can Maryland win in Morgantown? I'll be pulling for you guys!
