The Terps announced eight new members of the University of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday. They'll be inducted in a ceremony in early October. In addition to the folks below, former football Terp Tim Brant will receive an award.
In order of graduating class (or first year of coaching), here are your inductees for the Class of 2012 University of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame:
Leonard Rodman, Class of '43 -- for "Meritorious Service" (fund raising) ... was also a boxer while at UMD
Tom Bradley, Class of '72 -- Baseball
Paul Vellano, Class of '73 -- Football
Cindy Timchal, Women's Lacrosse Head Coach, 1991-2006 ... winning percentage of .895, won eight national titles, including seven consecutive (basically turned Maryland women's lacrosse, already a great program, into a dynasty)
Sarah Forbes, Class of '97 -- Women's Lacrosse
Jen Adams, Class of '01 -- Women's Lacrosse
Carla Tagliente, Class of '01 -- Field Hockey
and last, but certainly not least ...
