It really sucks that these games aren't televised but what are you going to do. Anyways, it has been easy sailing so far for USA. How about Jake Layman? In the first game, against the U.S. Virgin Islands, Layman had 7 points. and a team leading 10 boards! He shot 3/5 (including 1/3 from downtown). In the quote section of the website, the "interviewer" said Layman "brought good energy" when he came into the game. Here is link: Layman quotes from game 1. All box scores, etc. can be found on same site. At the half against today's game against Mexico, Layman has 8 points and 2 boards. He is 3/4 from the field, including 1/1 from 3 (his only misses were a lay up and missed free throw). They have live online "stats", which isn't very exciting to watch.
It's tough in these games to say who the "6th" man is because everybody gets alot of minutes but (at SF)Layman comes off the bench behind Grant, ahead of Sam Dekker. As so many have said in other posts, this is a huge experience for Layman and he seems to be making the most of it, can't wait to have him on campus. Just from looking at the box scores , he seems to make the most of his time on the court.
One other note of interest. Britt is getting ALOT of minutes in this type of setting, he must really have impressed the coaches. Anyways, there has been a lot of talk about this so was bored and thought I'd give a little update.
