For those of you who are unfamiliar, Best Buddies is an organization that "creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities." Every year, the Maryland state chapter holds a Friendship Walk fundraiser in College Park that follows a route through campus and ends at Ritchie Coliseum, where there are games and food for all of the participants.
Last year, Randy Edsall served as the honorary chairman for the Best Buddies Friendship Walk and came to the kickoff event at Ritchie. While he couldn't be there this year, he sent a few replacements on his behalf. C.J. Brown, Kevin Dorsey, Demetrius Hartsfield, Joe Vellano, Nathan Renfro, Tyrek Cheeseboro, and several other current players were there at Ritchie at 9:00 AM on a Saturday morning to support this event. They spoke to attendees and took pictures with many of the kids and fundraising teams in attendance.
I know this is part of the gig when you're a coach or player at a large Division I school, but I still think it's important to note the positive things that Edsall and his players are doing in the community.
