The 14th ranked up and coming and about to be cut Terrapin Water Polo team won its 14th match in it's last 17 contests beating #10 ranked Michigan 9-8 to advance to the Eastern Championship finals tomorrow against #13 Princeton. A win tomorrow would be the program's first Eastern Championship and probably gain the Terps an automatic bid to the NCAA championship tourney in 2 weeks.
Meanwhile, softball swept a double header beating BC 4-3 and 3-1 to even their ACC record at 7-7. With 4 games remaining (tomorrow against BC and 3 at home next weekend against ACC leaders FSU I don't think they have a great chance of making the NCAAs for the 3rd consecutive year without winning the ACC tourney. The Terps have won 11 of their last 12 so congrats to Coach Watten and the team for coming on strong to end the season.
In the throw down showdown of UA vs. Nike, Acrobatics & Tumbling lost its last chance bid (before it's cut) to recapture the NCATA national championship losing to Oregon in the championship match.
In a possible swan song at the Penn Relays, the Terps had some nice showings including wins in the Women's distance medley and men's high jump. Anyone interested can read the details here: http://www.umterps.com/sports/c-track/recaps/042812aaa.html
And in sports of marginally higher interest, baseball handily defeated Va. Tech 8-1 and men's lacrosse celebrated Maryland Day with a 12-7 win over Bellarmine.
Just trying to keep the TT faithful current on all things Terrapin.
