With five freshman on the roster to start the 2012 basketball season (six including Connor Lipinski), the team's success will hinge to a great extent on the productivity of the newcomers.
Considering the cast of players returning from last season, which of the incoming freshmen do you expect will be the most valuable for the Terps next year? While Shaquille Cleare, a space-eating center, is the highest-rated player entering the program; Charles Mitchell, Jake Layman, Sam Cassell, Jr., and Seth Allen offer more versatility, in that all are able to play more than one position.
Much will depend upon the health of point guard Pe'Shon Howard. If he hasn't fully recovered from his torn ACL, Terrell Stoglin, Nick Faust, Cassell, and Allen will likely be called upon to fill that role.
Personally, I think Howard will be just fine by the start of the season. He may not have the stamina initially to play 25 or 30 minutes a game, but unlike last season, Turge will have plenty of options to call upon to fill the remaining minutes.
With that in mind, feel free to vote and comment.
