MD Football Update

Maryland just posted four interview videos with RE talking about the team, the first week of practice and where he sees things going in week two.

In the first video, RE just gives his thoughts on week one of the team. Kind of an brief overview.

Intro Video

In the second video, RE breaks down the offense after one week of practice (TE's look great, WRs and RBs need consistency and CJB is pressing a little). Biggest news is that left side of the offensive line is moving to the right and vice versa.

Offense Breakdown

In the third video, RE talks about the defense. He generally seemed positive about the defense. WILL has the most depth, AJ Francis looks good at nose tackle, likes Dexter M. and Jeremiah J at the corners. No mention of Tate's position though it doesn't sound like they are holding a spot for him in the secondary. :(

Defense Breakdown

In the final video, he talks about special teams. Not too much info here. Basically, just a description of what he is looking for from the whole team and what he wants out of the captains.

Special Teams.

Overall, it sounds like things are going well. No new major injuries, which is huge for us given our thinness at a number of positions.

What kind of year do people think CJ Brown will have? On the one hand, he won't have to look over his shoulder -- which should help -- while on the other he hasn't been super consistent to date. My prediction is that he is solid but not spectacular. He doesn't have great receivers to throw to and the offensive line is thin. These deficiencies can make great qb's look average. Yet, he brings athleticism and intangibles to the table that can win games.

Thoughts?
